Originally built in 1860, the Elizabethan-style inn was once owned by the Duke of Bedford. Covid-19 restrictions are in place and rigorously adhered to. Rooms are large and comfortable with coffee-making facilities, iron/ironing board, and table and two easy chairs. The en-suite bathrooms have lovely showers with thick white towels. There is a lovely view of open fields and paddocks with horses. The staff are friendly and accommodating, serving up delicious food and drinks. Online check in is simple and the hotel is in a great location for visiting many National Trust properties. Arrangements to make the hotel Covid-safe are excellent. However, payment issues have been experienced by some guests.
