Unfortunately, the hotel could do with a good freshening up, and the restaurant menu is quite basic. The hotel staff are friendly and attentive and the breakfast is good. However, there has been some confusion with VAT charges, so do double-check with the hotel before booking. Overall, it's a good option for a short stay, but maybe not worth the full price.

The Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa is a grand Victorian hotel situated conveniently in the centre of Buxton, just 300 metres from the Buxton Train Station. Boasting a swimming pool and beauty salon, the hotel offers a range of luxurious amenities and services. Unfortunately, our experience was not as expected from a 4-star hotel. Our room was shabby, with a cold radiator and no ventilation. Breakfast was also disappointing, with burnt toast, tasteless dinner, and a dessert that was far from satisfactory. Furthermore, service was terrible, with staff that seemed untrained and understaffed. Unfortunate, but we will not be returning.
