Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa is a paradise in Cheshire countryside. Set on 1000 acres of stunning scenery, the hotel offers modern spa facilities, two championship golf courses and luxury rooms with breathtaking views. Just 20 minutes’ drive from Chester, free parking and free Wi-Fi are provided. Our room was in the courtyard and was simple but clean with a generous-sized bed for two, but no air conditioning. We booked the twilight spa garden experience, which included 3 hours access to outdoor jacuzzis, saunas, steam rooms, heated indoor and outdoor pools, and a complimentary glass of champagne. Breakfast was included in the room price and served 7:30-10:30am. The leisure club, with recently refurbished gym, is also included in the price. The pool can get busy with kids between 2-6pm, but the jacuzzi and sauna/steam room facilities are great. There's also adventure facilities on-site which are perfect for children. The hotel staff make sure you feel relaxed and comfortable, and the wedding coordinators could be more helpful. Overall, Carden Park Hotel offers a great stay with beautiful views, and luxurious spa facilities.

The Mill Hotel and Spa is a great place to stay if you're looking for a central location in Chester. It's just a 5 minute walk from Chester Station, and located alongside the Shropshire Union Canal. The hotel offers 5 eateries, a leisure centre with a pool, and comfortable rooms with a great view of the canal. Our room was very clean and tidy, and the shower was amazing with a rainfall shower overhead and a removable hand held shower. The dinner we had on our first night was tasty, with a good selection of dishes, and the breakfast was a little sparse for me, but hubby had cooked breakfast. We also took advantage of the leisure centre, with a swim in the pool and a massage with Patricia. The bar area was a great place to relax, although it was a little noisy due to football and golf masters. All in all, The Mill Hotel and Spa is a great place to stay in Chester.

Crowne Plaza Chester is located in the heart of the historic city centre, just a stone's throw away from a variety of shops and restaurants. With an onsite indoor heated pool, hot tub and a modern gym, you can relax and unwind during your stay. Private parking is also available for an additional fee. The hotel is stunning and very clean, with lovely views from the restaurant. The rooms are modern and come equipped with a mini fridge, so you can keep your drinks cool. All staff are welcoming and polite, and the breakfast selection is great. The restaurant also offers a two course meal and large wine for a great price. Take advantage of the hotel's facilities, including the gym, pool and jacuzzi, which are all exceptionally clean. With three restaurants and lounge bars, guests can enjoy delightful seasonal menus prepared with local produce. The spa pool and facilities are top-notch and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind. The rooms are clean and comfortable, complete with blackout curtains and heated floors in the bathrooms. The breakfast buffet is extensive with gluten free cornflakes available. Although there is an extra charge for the pool, the grounds are beautiful and there is an interesting history. However, it is important to note that the restaurant located in the lobby can be noisy due to the presence of drunk golfers and the pre-charge on the card is still pending a week later. All in all, The Mere provides a great experience and is worth a visit.

The location is ideal for couples, families or groups, with free parking and easy access to the city centre. All in all, Handbridge House offers a great home away from home with attentive hosts and plenty of amenities.

Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel is a 3-star hotel located less than 3 miles from the city centre, offering beautiful gardens, Feel Good Health Club, free parking and free high-speed WiFi. Upon arriving, guests are greeted with a friendly nature. The hotel offers Premier Deluxe rooms with robes and slippers, as well as spa facilities although no spa or massage treatments are available. Its grounds lead to the pretty canal-side walkways of Christleton and is close to the park & ride and a supermarket. The food served is fresh and of reasonable prices. The bar service can be slow with no cash payments and the shower pressure in the rooms is poor. Staff are not well-informed when asked questions. The hotel is good value for money, but could be much better if updated. It is an average three star establishment and could be a great stay if given some investment.
