Peebles Hydro is a beautiful, historic hotel situated in the charming border town of Peebles. Offering an indoor swimming pool, spa and gym, as well as a restaurant, this hotel is the perfect spot for a family getaway. However, reception staff could be more friendly, and the hotel and restaurant are in need of a revamp. Despite this, activities such as the gin distillery, segway and shooting are great fun, with the leisure centre staff particularly friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner food could be improved, but overall it's a great spot for a short break with family and friends.

The Barony Castle Hotel is an impressive castle situated on 25 acres of mature grounds in the Scottish Borders. Surrounded by beautiful Peeblesshire countryside, the castle boasts a stylish award-winning restaurant, modern leisure centre, and tranquil gardens with a lovely woodland walk. Enjoy a special occasion with the facilities in the barony castle, and make the most of treatments available, as well as the half-board option with breakfast and dinner. Despite the current COVID-19 circumstances, the staff, food, and amenities remain excellent, and the young man on reception is exceptionally helpful. Unfortunately, there have been some negative reviews due to weddings and other guests, so be sure to check before booking.

Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa is a 4-star hotel set by the River Tweed in a quiet countryside location. Enjoy views of the Border Hills, a 18-hole golf course, award-winning restaurant, spa, and bedrooms with blackout curtains for a good night’s sleep. The leisure facilities include a swimming pool, gym and steam room, but the service was generally poor, with slow food service and no staff on hand. The bar was closed on one of the warmest days and the food was of poor quality and overpriced. Breakfast was slow and cold and vegetarian options were lacking. Overall, this hotel is a disappointment and not worth the money or time.
