Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa is the perfect place to stay for a romantic getaway. Situated on the shores of Lake Windermere, this award-winning hotel boasts a beauty spa, a restaurant, and stunning views of the lake. Our superior double lake view room (312) had a super comfy bed and a great waterfall shower. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room and delicious breakfasts with plenty of choice for gluten free/vegan/vegetarian diets. We used the relaxing Elemis spa facilities - sauna, aroma steam and ice rooms - before indulging in a couples massage. The hotel is a short walk away from Windermere centre and surrounded by great restaurants and cocktail bars. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful - they even congratulated us on our honeymoon and gave us a room upgrade. With a new shower, great water pressure and a comfy bed, we had no complaints! Our morning started with a window seat overlooking the lake and a delicious breakfast. The car park is also secure with access via a fob provided at reception. Everything about our stay was effortless, fun, restful and memorable - we will definitely be returning!
