This 4-star hotel is located on the shores of Loch Ard, just 6 miles from the foot of Ben Lomond. It features a spa, an on-site activity centre, and a select menu of wines and whiskies. The rooms are big and clean, with partial views of the loch, and all the basic amenities such as coffee, tea, hairdryer and bathroom products are provided. Guests can explore the stunning hotel gardens, or take a walk around the surrounding nature, which is simply incredible. The food and drink is a bit pricey, but the menu offers plenty of options to choose from. Breakfast is also very good, with continental and cooked options available. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable. However, make sure to book dinner in advance, and be aware of the no alcohol rule outside of room service.
Macdonald Forest Hills Resort is set in Aberfoyle and features a fitness centre. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. The resort offers a range of activities including water sports, Go Ape and a football pitch, as well as shops and a lovely town a 10-minute drive away. Unfortunately, the accommodation itself is a bit outdated and badly needs renovation, but the new General Manager is willing to compensate guests for any issues they have. All in all, Macdonald Forest Hills Resort is an ideal destination for a unique outdoor experience.

Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa is a traditional Scottish manor house set within landscaped gardens, just off Junction 5 of the M9 motorway. Enjoy the spa facilities and restaurant, or the steakhouse for a special night out. Our double rooms are clean and comfortable with a comfy bed, but could do with an update. We also have a pool, a bar and restaurant, and lovely staff. In the summer months, you may want to bring a fan as the windows don’t open far and we don’t have any fans to give. We’re near an oil refinery but you can expect the odd whiff of it. With three stars, you can expect a good stay here.
