Set in tropical gardens and boasting direct access to the award-winning Carbis Bay Beach, a member of The Most Beautiful Bays In The World organisation, this elegant hotel offers wonderful sea views and an award-winning restaurant. Enjoy picturesque St Ives just 1 mile away and make use of the bar and beach bar staff, who are friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the service at breakfast and room service was not up to par. The swimming pool and spa were closed and the hotel was being refurbished, making it difficult to exit the car park in the morning. The room was boiling hot, but air con was not fitted. The food in the beach cafe was nice, but the full English breakfast was cold and not worth the price tag. The spa facilities were also £170 for 90 minutes and fully booked up. Overall, not an enjoyable stay and one which will not be repeated.

Penventon Park Hotel is a beautiful Georgian Mansion House set on private parklands. Offering high speed WiFi and free public parking, it is conveniently located just 4 km from the A30, providing easy access to all that Cornwall has to offer. We found the property to be very clean and the staff incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Our room was spacious, and the 24/7 room service was perfect for travelling with children. The food was delicious, and the outdoor seating was perfect for Cornish cream teas. The spa was a real treat, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were excellent. Penventon Park Hotel is also pet-friendly and they welcomed our dog with open arms. We would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to come back soon!

Budock Vean is a private and luxurious 4-Star family-run hotel located in 65 acres of sub-tropical gardens by the Helford River in Mawnan Smith, just a 15 minute drive from Falmouth. It offers an indoor pool, 9-hole golf course and spa, plus high quality food and a beautiful view across the grounds. The staff were amazingly helpful and even gave us a free of charge room upgrade. The breakfast is included with a room booking and is fantastic value. The room was nicely decorated with complimentary TV and iPhone dock, plus complimentary spring water. The bed was very comfortable and dressing gowns and slippers were provided at no cost. The leisure facilities were nice with the outdoor hot tub and indoor dry sauna contrasting the unfortunately very cold swimming pool. The spa was beautiful and well kept. The ensuite bathroom was comfortable with a luxurious shower head. The hotel is dog friendly, with a terrace and conservatory for meals. Highly recommend this hotel and general location.

Unfortunately, this hotel does not live up to its 4-star rating with staff continually making mistakes and a lack of attention to detail. Although the electric car charger does not work, the worst part was the slow service in the restaurant and the fact that a bottle of Prosecco sent to us as a gift was charged on our bill. On the whole, this hotel does not live up to its expectations and is best avoided.
