The Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa is a grand Victorian hotel situated in the centre of Buxton, just 300 metres from the train station. Boasting a swimming pool and beauty salon, it is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Unfortunately, our experience here was far from perfect. Our room was very small, cold, and scruffy, and the central heating radiator had been physically turned off. Breakfast was equally disappointing, with burnt toast served and a dessert that was far from what was promised. Service was terrible, with no customer focus, clearly untrained staff, and no evidence of senior management. Our stay here was a huge let-down, and certainly not up to four star standards.
