The Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa is a grand Victorian hotel situated in the centre of Buxton. It offers a swimming pool, beauty salon, and is only 300 metres from the Buxton Train Station. However, our recent stay was not up to four-star standards. The room was cold, shabby and cramped; there were no tea bags at breakfast, and our key fobs did not work. The service was also terrible with untrained staff, burnt toast, and terrible food with no customer focus. COVID-19 cannot be used as an excuse for the poor service. We had to leave early and are still waiting for a refund.
