Despite its attractive setting, however, the hotel is understaffed and underprepared to meet the demands of its guests, with lengthy waits for drinks, food and check-in and poor housekeeping standards. Breakfast is chaotic, with long queues and insufficient staff to cope, while dirty bathrooms, stained curtains and dusty fans in rooms, amongst other issues, disappoint. A stay here is a gamble; while its natural setting is attractive, the standard of service is sub-par.

Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa is a 4-star, award-winning hotel with a restaurant, technogym, spa and swimming pool, as well as free parking and WiFi. With two weddings taking place on the Saturday afternoon and evening, the lounge bar was understaffed and the quality of evening dinner food was poor. However, the restaurant manager was excellent, and the receptionist was very helpful. Unfortunately, a misunderstanding late at night resulted in us being charged for drinks, which was resolved with head office. Despite this, we would not recommend this hotel.
